The Pacific Manuscripts Bureau invites you to join us for the launch of The Fox Brothers in New Guinea. This is the extraordinary story of twin brothers, Tom and Jack Fox. They were with the Australian forces in German New Guinea in 1914, fought in France and Belgium and, back in New Guinea, worked for the Expropriation Board. They chased gold in Morobe, the Highlands and the Sepik. In 1934 they walked west from Mt Hagen, prospecting. Their walk through country mostly never before contacted by Europeans marked them as among a small elite group of “outside men” – hardy, enterprising, competent, self-reliant. Thomas Fox is a graduate of the University of Papua New Guinea and businessman. He has collaborated with Roger Southern and Chris Ballard to research and write the story of his father Jack and uncle Tom and has created an engaging addition to the historical literature of Papua New Guinea. The Fox Brothers in New Guinea is published by Stringybark Publishing. Available for AUD25 plus postage by emailing: edovafox@gmail.com We will also hear from the PMB Executive Officer about sources in the PMB collection related to the Fox brothers.
