Boats blocked in Papua New Guinea due to floating pumice

The video is a short news clip from Reuters about the aftermath of an undersea volcanic eruption off the coast of Papua New Guinea.

The eruption has created massive "rafts" of pumice—a highly porous, lightweight volcanic rock that floats on water. These floating pumice masses are so thick that they are clogging the local waterways, making it extremely difficult for boats to navigate and essentially creating a rocky roadblock right in the middle of the ocean.

Mother Nature really decided to put some literal bumps in the road for those boaters! Let me know if you'd like to dive into the science of how these pumice rafts form.
